FYI |
| SOLID COPPER vs. COPPER-CLAD
STEEL: All major
satellite and cable providers now require solid-copper cable
terminated with concentric-crimped connectors. Solid-Copper Cable is
absolutely necessary to adequately deliver the full-range of
modern-day services in the Digital, Hi-Definition and Broadband
frequency spectrums. The cheaper CCS (Copper-Clad Steel or
Copper-Coated Steel) is simply NOT sufficient for transferring
these high-frequency signals in an unaltered state. The less expensive
copper-clad RG6 cable has a steel center core electro-plated with an
extremely thin outside layer of copper. Compared with copper the
conductivity of steel is normally in the range of 30 to 40% less. Duo-Shield vs. Quad-Shield Cable: We do not use quad-shield cable for a variety of reasons: most quad-shield cable is manufactured with a copper-clad steel center conductor; Quad-shield cable is less flexible making it more difficult to route through walls, floors and attic spaces without kinking; and, in practically every instance, quad-shield cable is simply overkill. Quad-shield cable is recommended only for installations where over-the-air signals may cause interference. So, unless you have a radio transmitter inside your home or a tower in the neighborhood - quad-shield cable is not necessary. Coaxial Jumpers and Drops Not Listed on This Page - We can custom make any length cable your project demands. If you don't see the length you need shown on this page, don't panic - send us an email! We can custom-make any length jumper or drop you request including gel-flooded RG6 for direct-bury, RG11 coaxial cable for drops in excess of 150 feet, and quad-shielded cable for homes where terrestrial signal interference is a problem. |
